Well done Niagara!!! Community Action of Orleans and Genesee is a big winner again!!

Niagara Region did it again this year, and Community Action is one of the beneficiaries of the outpouring of generosity that has become a standard of this organization.  Bags and boxes of household supplies and food poured in again this year making for overflowing tables of hope for those in need.  Lisa Wittmeyer joined us this year and gave a brief overview of the services provided by her organization and thanked us for our most generous donations.

Community Action has served low-income and disadvantaged families for over 40 years. Community Action programs are designed to empower as well as provide opportunity to those who are not yet self-sufficient. Programs like Head Start work on long-term goals by educating children and short-term goals by working with parents in a variety of areas like education, housing and nutrition. Many programs use short and long-term benefits (e.g., HEAP Application Assistance and Weatherization Services), referrals (Emergency Services) or education (Employment Training programs) to help people achieve self-sufficiency.
