Community Action of Orleans & Genesee takes “home” a ton of food!!!

In  our Food Drive’s inaugural year, our members again rose to the occasion! Boxes and bags were carried in and stacked on the table the evening of our Annual Dinner.  Lisa Wittmeyer gave a brief presentation and expressed her appreciation that Community Action was considered for such a generous donation!!

Community Action has served low-income and disadvantaged families for over 40 years. Community Action programs are designed to empower as well as provide opportunity to those who are not yet self-sufficient. Programs like Head Start work on long-term goals by educating children and short-term goals by working with parents in a variety of areas like education, housing and nutrition. Many programs use short and long-term benefits (e.g., HEAP Application Assistance and Weatherization Services), referrals (Emergency Services) or education (Employment Training programs) to help people achieve self-sufficiency.
