Zone 1 – 48 Hours at the Glen – Driver Education* @ Watkins Glen International
Jun 10 @ 7:00 am – Jun 12 @ 5:00 pm

We are blessed that the storied Watkins Glen Racetrack is located in Zone 1 and delighted that we’re able to take you there for the Zone 1 “48 Hours at the Glen” DE weekend. Whether you’re a novice or experienced DE driver, don’t miss this opportunity to drive in the tracks of past glorious winners of Formula 1, NASCAR, Trans-Am, IROC and IndyCar races that have been held here over the years. Watkins Glen is a well-maintained, gorgeous track with 11 corners and wonderful elevation changes. It is set in a beautiful location, a short drive from the historic town of Watkins Glen. Just like at your own region DE events, you’ll be organized into run groups, so that you’re on the track with others of similar experience and capability. Instructors ride with drivers in the less advanced run groups, providing guidance and feedback to help the drivers develop their skills during the weekend. This event also includes the National Instructor Training Program which takes place on the preceding Friday.

If you’ve been meaning to drive the Watkins Glen track, but have never quite got around to it, this is the year to do it. Just click on the link below to see more details and how to register. Come out and enjoy the track, the camaraderie and have yourself a great PCA Zone 1 weekend of fun.

Zone 1 – Porsche Clash* @ Watkins Glen International
Jun 17 @ 8:00 am – Jun 19 @ 7:00 pm

Join us for the 20th Annual CLASH AT THE GLEN CLUB RACE June 17th – June 19th, 2021

Hosted by the Regions of Zone 1 at Watkins Glen International Raceway in Watkins Glen, NY

If you’re a PCA racer, Watkins Glen has got to be on your bucket list of tracks to drive. If you’ve driven it before, don’t miss this chance to come back to improve your times and win on this track where great racers such as Jack Brabham, Stirling Moss and Dan Gurney found glory.

Maybe it’s the sheer joy of racing on this superb, well-maintained track with its thrilling elevation changes, or imagining they are running with Mario Andretti, Jacky Ickx or Derek Bell, that brings out over 250 racers from all over the USA and Canada to make this Zone 1 Club Race the largest on the PCA Club Racing circuit. PCA members are welcome to attend and perhaps consider how they may make the transition from Driver Education to Club Racing.

All participating drivers will receive a special “Port Authority” Clash Jacket with 20th Anniversary Commemorative embroidery as seen in our PCA Club Racing magazine ad! Friday will begin the weekend with a full day of race practice and Fun Races/Practice Starts. Saturday will feature 2 Sprint Races for all classes in four race groups.  Immediately following the last race, there will be an optional Social Hour with open bar, Dinner, Raffle, and Race Awards Announcements in the Watkins Glen Media Center.

On Sunday, following the morning warm-up sessions, we will have 3 – 60-minute Enduro races that will run back-to-back through the normal Watkins Glen lunch hour.  This will allow for maximum participation with no refueling and drivers being able to do the whole Enduro with or without a co-driver or team support.  The change also makes for an earlier finish and the ability to get home at a more reasonable time.  Tentatively the last Enduro race will end at 12:45 PM with the Pirelli Awards ceremony at 1:00 PM.

For those of you wishing for track time at the Glen in preparation for the Clash, Metro Region is hosting a traditional Drivers Education event on Wednesday and Thursday, (June 2/3), prior the Race weekend.  See ClubRegistration.net for more information.

Early Registration and hotel reservations are recommended (registration usually opens in April).  Additionally, the Volunteer Registration page is up on MotorsportReg.com.

Visit the Zone 1 website at http://zone1.pca.org or http://register.pca.org for more details.

Established in 2001 as part of the Porsche Club of America Club Racing Program, “The Clash at the Glen” is an event you must attend, either as a racer or as a volunteer.  Held at the historic Watkins Glen Race Track, nestled in the Finger Lakes Region of New York State, this track is one that cannot be missed. There will be almost 300 racing Porsches!!  This is one of the biggest Porsche racing events in the country. The three day event is free for club members (bring your club membership card to get in the gate)  and is great chance to get see Porsche racing up close with open access to the paddock and pits. And another great reason to go: there are 10 or so racers from the Niagara Region who will be racing at the three day event. Let’s support our region!!
Held in late May/early June, this event is one where racers must register early.  Being such a historic track and one of the best drives in the country, race classes fill up quickly.  Not only can this race accomodate up to 300 racers, the volunteer effort over 50 volunteers from various Regions throughout the Zone is an effort second to none.   In order to make this event a success every year we rely on the volunteers to make it happen. Without their effort this race would not be possible.  We look forward to seeing you at The Clash this year!

Early registration and hotel reservations are recommended.

Visit the Zone 1 website  for event details.
